Music Reviews and New Releases

Morning all....with the Grammys coming up this weekend, I definitely wished to share with you all some of my favorite new music out there. I am sure you would and should take control of your music collection and get some new tunes on your i-Pod and in your CD collection.

The first quick review I have is for K.D. Lang. Not only is this her first record in eight years, I think it must be one of her best. She has always had my attention, but this last effort has now gotten me totally hooked! Her voice is at a new high, smooth, tranquil and oh so sexy, you actually forget its K.D. Lang - this is not to say she isn't sexy - please do not get me wrong. She has never had to prove anything to me in anyway in regards to her amazing talent. But this record, "Watershed" (Nonesuch) which was just released on February 5th continues to show us her many diverse talent in singing in different music styles.

Here is the track list for "Watershed":

"I Dream of Spring"
"Coming Home"
"Once in a While"
"Thread"
"Close Your Eyes"
"Sunday"
"Flame of the Uninspired"
"Upstream"
"Shadow and the Frame"
"Jealous Dog"

Beck:
Beck's major label debut, MELLOW GOLD, introduced him in 1994 but it was ODELAY two years later that became a bellwether for the alternative rock movement. Now, a dozen years after its original release, ODELAY has been expanded into a two-CD DELUXE EDITION with the addition of two never-before-released tracks, a soundtrack contribution, an earlier indie-issued track, and 15 recordings heard on U.K., Japanese and Australian albums, singles, and EPs never released in the U.S. Voted Best Album of the Year in The Village Voice Jazz & Pop Critics Poll and Grammy winner for Best Alternative Music Performance, Odelay charted Top 20 and earned double platinum. "Where It's At," which won the Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance, and "The New Pollution" charted Top 10 Modern Rock, "Jack-Ass" Top 20 and "Devil's Haircut" Top 30.

It's a must have in your Beck collection - and a requirement for those new to Beck!
